Class Reflection 4
Finnerty Gardens
Todays class took place outside in Finnerty Gardens! This was the first time I have visited them, and it was a really great experience.

Being out in nature and walking around, being active is a great way to de-stress and get ideas flowing. It is important to remember that children have shorter attention spans, and outside breaks could be the difference between a productive class and a full meltdown.
Using QR codes hanging in the Garden was a fun way to be outside but still have it connect back to technology and our learning. Having to find the QR codes to get to the information posts made it feel more like a fun treasure hunt rather than a boring reading assignment. Children may be more willing to participate and learn if they get the freedom to explore and be outside.

Completing this class outside also allowed for time to socialize and discuss projects and other classes, which often is overlooked during the school day. Humans are social creatures, and some people struggle with being forced to sit still and listen for hours on end. Overall, this class was a good reminder that whenever possible, I want to bring my future students outside.
