Pig Tail Buns with Braids
This week’s updo was two pig tail/space buns, with two front sections of hair added in as regular three strand braids. I started by dividing my hair in two down my middle part line. Next, I took a small section at the front of my head to leave out for the braids. Then I gathered my hair into high pig tails on either side of my head using small clear elastics. After securing the ponytails, I wrapped them each up into buns, twisting the hair around the base of each ponytail and securing with more small clear elastics. After the buns were done, I braided each of the two front strands back to reach the bun, then wrapped them around and tied them with yet another clear elastic. Lastly, I sprayed it all with some hairspray to ensure the updo would last through my gym class!
This updo was not overly difficult, however it did use quite a few clear elastics. I also had to add extra elastics to the left side in order to get the bun to sit in a shape that I liked. Overall, there was not much technique or background knowledge required. It did require some past experience with simpler hairstyles, but no super intricate braids or fancy techniques.

Unlike the previous hairstyles I have tried, this one was inspired by a stranger’s updo that I saw while passing on the bus. I was excited to attempt to re-create a hairstyle without having a video to follow along, re-watch, and pause. Because I do have previous experience with buns and simple three strand braids I was able to figure it out, but there are many videos online with similar hairstyles to this one for people who prefer having a video to follow along with!
