Ponytail with Braids

The second hairstyle I chose was a ponytail with two braids. It was a fairly simple hairstyle, taking two front sections of hair before putting the rest up into a ponytail. Then I did a simple three strand braid for both sections (one at a time) until it reached the elastic holding my ponytail. To connect the braid to the ponytail, I added a small amount of hair from the ponytail into each strand of my braid, then continued until I reached the ends of my hair. I found my arms were quite sore and tired by the end of the braids, but overall the hairstyle only took around 10-15 minutes. After both braids were complete, I felt like the braids did not connect nicely to the base of my ponytail, so I used one bobby pin on each side to secure the braid to the hair tie.

Overall this hairstyle was fairly simple and did not require any kind of specialized tools or products. Really, all you need is a hair brush, three elastics, and the patience to complete it. You could also choose to end the braid as it joins the ponytail rather then braiding it to the end of your hair! I chose to use a small amount of gel on the strand of hair that I was braiding, and gave my whole head a light spray with hairspray once I completed the style to help it hold throughout the day and to prevent flyaways.
